MAKOTO KURIYA : Pianist, Composer, Music producer

photo   Born in Kobe, Japan, graduated from West Virginia University with linguistics major, and later studied and performed with Nathan Davis at the University of Pittsburgh. Kuriya toured with Grammy winning Chuck Mangione in the late 80's.
  Also performed with many legends including Donald Byrd, James Moody, Toots Thielmans and Curtis Fuller. And with Herbie Hancock at "Tokyo Jazz", the largest jazz festival in Japan, and in Paris for the "International Music Day" organized by UNESCO with Billy Cobham, John Faddis and Jonny Griffin.
  Makoto has achieved so many internationally achieved projects in Asia, Europe, Australia and other parts of the world including a government appointed tour to Brazil as a token of 120th year of exchange and the special ceremonial performance for 25th anniversary of democracy at King's Palace in Warsaw, Poland. Also, the performance at “Cairo Jazz Festival” became their leading newspaper, Al-Ahram’s front coverage.
  Makoto Kuriya is also a composer, arranger and producer of various music from Jazz to Pop music, and has recorded for platinum-winning Japanese animation movie "Neo Genesis Evangelion" which became a global success. Released DSD high resolution "Cubic Magic" with a unit "Threesome" and won Japan's best recording award. Also released another DSD high resolution album "Acoustic Weather Report" on Sony Records and marked the best selling Jazz and Fusion CD on Amazon Japan.
  Currently musical director and band master for TV show "Jazzy Live Show" on NTV BS.

KOICHI OSAMU : BASS

photo  Born in Osaka on October 24, 1960. After graduating from Kyoto University, Koichi studied at the Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA. In ‘85 and ‘86 he was awarded the Berklee Eddie Gomez Award. In ’87, Koichi graduated from Berklee with a Diploma in Composition and Arrangement. After returning to Japan, he was active primarily in jazz clubs and stage performances in the metropolitan area.
  From ’96 to ‘08, Koichi performed in festivals at home and abroad as a regular bassist in the Sadao Watanabe band. In 2001, he formed a new band called “EQ. They has so far released 8 albums and performed at numerous live concerts, including Tokyo Jazz Festival, and jazz clubs throughout Japan. With a guitarist, Toshiki Nunokawa, released 3 duo albums. He also plays on numerous albums by various jazz, pop and classic artists.
  In July ‘97, Koichi released his first leader album “Three-Color Rainbow,” and in January ‘06, the second leader album “Kinsen, The Chord." Koichi released 4 titles of instruction DVDs for bassist, many jazz song books and a theory book.

HIROYUKI NORITAKE : DRUMS

photo  Hiroyuki Noritake made his professional debut as a member of Japan's leading fusion band, T-square. They won the Japan Gold Disc Award 10 times. They performed at the Playboy Jazz Festival in America and received worldwide acclaim. After leaving the band, he started his solo career and released his leader album.
  To date, he has been touring and recording as Japan's most trusted drummer. He is currently the tour leader of Ayaka Hirahara, Japan's most popular singer. He is also a lecturer at Showa College of Music Jazz and Pops Department.
